Snap-Lock Multi-Ball Caddy: Pickleball & Baseball

Overview

The Snap-Lock Multi-Ball Caddy by Timberlake Creations is the ultimate precision-engineered accessory for your gear bag. Originally perfected for the pickleball court, this updated design features a "spring-tension" geometry that is also 100% compatible with standard baseballs! Whether you’re heading to the diamond or the court, this caddy keeps your game ball accessible by clipping securely to your backpack, belt loop, or dugout fence.

Detailed Description & Functionality

This caddy is all about the "snap." It doesn't just hold the ball; it secures it through mechanical tension.

  • Dual-Sport Engineering: The curvature is mathematically tuned to provide a friction lock on a regulation pickleball by utilizing the ball's holes, while the flex-arms provide a secure "hug" on the leather and laces of a baseball.
  • Timberlake Creations Engineering: Featuring the "T.C." logo, the frame is reinforced at the keychain eyelet to withstand the weight of a heavy sports bag and the inertia of a standard baseball.
  • Reference Model Included: I’ve included my reference sports ball file in the download. You can use this as a "negative" or "modifier" in your CAD software to build your own custom holders!

The History of the Design

Created out of necessity in the pickleball capital of Tega Cay, SC, and expanded by request for the baseball community. I was tired of balls rolling around the bottom of my bag or falling out of loose side pockets. This design was iterated at Timberlake Creations to find the perfect balance between a secure "snap-fit" hold and a quick, one-handed release.

Filament Recommendation: SUNLU PETG or ASA

Since this part relies on "spring tension" to hold the ball, you need a filament with high fatigue resistance and durability.

  • The Pro Choice: SUNLU PETG. It has the perfect mechanical properties to "spring" back into place after you insert the ball without becoming brittle.
  • For High-Heat Environments: SUNLU ASA. If you’re leaving your gear in a hot car or out in the sun at the ball field, SUNLU ASA offers the UV and heat resistance needed to ensure your caddy never loses its grip.

Remix Ideas & Keywords

Having the reference ball file makes remixing a breeze!

  • Trophy Displays: Use the included ball file to "subtract" from a pedestal to create a custom home-run or tournament-win display.
  • Garage Organization: Remix this into a wall-mounted rail to store an entire bucket's worth of balls.
  • Keywords: Timberlake Creations, Pickleball Accessories, Baseball Gear, Ball Caddy, Keychain Design, Sports Equipment, Functional Printing, Backpack Clip, Baseball Holder, MakerWorld.

Pro-Tip for Modifiers: If you’re using the included reference ball to design a new holder and need to double-check your physical measurements, my Cosplay Calipers are the perfect tool: Cosplay Calipers Measuring Tool for Armor Sizing

If you’re looking to scale this caddy for different ball sizes (like softballs), or want to learn how to use the reference ball as a "Boolean" tool in Bambu Studio, watch my guide: How to Size, Scale, and Orient Models in Bambu Studio
