Description
This is a representation of the Fortress Monastery of Osios Christodoulos (located near the hermitage of St. John the Theologian, author of Revelations), commissioned by byzantine emperor Alexios Komninos in 1088. This is not a 1:1 representation, however, if you have seen/visited this building, you will recognize this piece. The Monastery was used as a fortress - as it sits atop a high mountain peak in the village of Chora, looking over the bay of Skala, the monks/inhabitants would watch for pirates and prepare boiling tar and weapons for when the opposition grew near!
This model was created via personal photographs and initially generated using Makerlab tools. I then modified the original heavily, and created pockets for planting small plants or item storage, and ‘plumbing’ for water drainage.
If using as a planter, you will want to scale this up to you desired specification. When watering, do not over water your plants - this isn't great for the plant and you dont want a pool anyways :)
