DIY Roller Knife Sharpener

This 3D model uses available spare parts for rolling knife sharpeners (such as Horl) to inexpensively build your own rolling knife sharpener

Note

Rolling knife sharpeners like the one from Horl are ball-bearing. This means the discs roll, but the roller/handle itself does not; the handle is held in place

In this version, the handle rolls along, which also works

Regarding Version 1:

• Plate1 - The rolling sharpener itself prints without support but is assembled from two parts using glue and clips
• Plate2 - The same as a single object. Prints with support (which is difficult with threads) - not yet tested (feedback welcome)
• Plate3 - Knife holder 20° - Standard angle for knives in Europe (solid)
• Plate4 - Knife holder 10° - Extra sharp but delicate
• Plate5 - Knife holder 15° - The compromise between 20° and 10°

Replacement discs are needed for the rolling sharpener, e.g. on Amazon under "Rolling Sharpener Replacement Disc Set" for just under €10

The knife holders have a high and a low side; the latter is for narrow blades

For the knife holder, 15 magnets, each with a 6mm diameter and 2mm height, are required

Under the knife holder there are recesses for anti-slip rubber pads (e.g. from Ikea cabinet doors - hot glue also works)
