Description
This project is a completely self-developed, compact DIY camera based on the ESP32S3 CAM. It combines hardware, software, and design into a standalone camera system with many functions.
The camera uses an OV3660 lens, a 2.4" TFT SPI touchscreen, an LED as a flash, and an SD card slot for storing photos and videos. All components are integrated on a custom-developed PCB, making the system stable and compact. Additionally, a precisely fitting 3D-printed case is included, giving the project a finished, professional appearance.
Control is via an encoder (similar to a joystick), which is used to navigate through a self-programmed menu. Available modes are:
- Photo capture
- Video recording
- Gallery
- Settings
In the settings, the device can be connected to Wi-Fi and configured via the touchscreen.
The integrated gallery allows viewing, zooming, browsing, or deleting images directly on the display – completely without external devices.
A special feature is the integrated IP-Cam function. This allows the camera to switch to a live-streaming mode and be accessed from anywhere via a web interface in the WLAN or via the ESP32S3's access point.
This project is ideal for makers interested in embedded systems, IoT, and DIY hardware who want to build their own smart camera system.
