Description

I plan to configure the support settings later to make removal easier. Also I may make some modifications to remove the need for supports on unit cells like FCC - which have difficult to access support material.

I also plan to make a more accurate model of the HCP unit cell, a more accurate model will require structural supports or assembly.

Includes models for Body Centered Cubic, Simple Cubic Cell, Face Centered Cubic, Hexagonal Close Packed ( two versions ).

If it isn't obvious to you, I would recommend using supports, as this model would not print well without them.

Also, I would recommend increasing the number of wall loops / perimeters (at least 4) to ensure the atom segments do not easily break. There are hidden structural beams connecting each corner atom / central atom; a thicker wall will help with rigidity.

                             Print Settings:

Infill %15-20
Infill TypeGyroid (optional)
Wall Loops / Perimeters4

                             Materials Needed:

  • 10mm diameter magnet ,  ( ~ 1.5 ~ 2 mm) thick - [BCC, SBC, FCC] (24 magnets for each cubic unit cell)
  • 6mm diameter magnet ,  ( ~ 2.5 ~ 3 mm) thick  - [HCC v1, HCC v2]. (36 magnets for each hexagonal unit cell)
  • Cyanoacrylate (Super glue) - preferred. Any  plastic bonding glue will work...

!!!Be mindful of the magnets' orientation before gluing!!!

Holes are slightly oversized for proper fitment.

Note:  super glue is not recommend for use with ABS -- it will make your print brittle and fall apart.

~Enjoy~
