38mm (1 ½ inch) Experimental potato cannon round Mark II fits barrel of 1.5 inch PVC DIY potato cannons (38mm). Its special shape should provide smooth airflow and rotation that self-stabilizes and prolongs the flight of projectile. The Mark II version has reworked tail with ring stabilizer that should have less drag and improved stabilization. It also has a rear chamber which should collect some compressed gas on launch and expels it after launch which serves as a kind of jet engine. In theory…
It is experimental because of its unique design and also It has 6 mm hole with small chamber in the tip that allows to add weight to the tip, either by screwing in M6 screw of different lengths (or M6 threaded rod cut flush with the tip or by pouring in sand or bb pellets and sealing with hot glue… You can experiment with the weight of the tip, or by wrapping scotch tape around warhead to improve tighter fit in barrel… You can also scale on X and Y axes in slicer to achieve better fit… and any other ideas are welcome in the comments…
A whistling 50mm (2 In/50mm) version with grooves for o-rings is available here - MARK III is WHISTLING
Use on your own risk, apply all safety precautions and obey the local laws… Never shoot on anything live.
