Description
šŖµ 3D Catan Resource Cards
If youāve committed to a 3D-printed Catan set, you know the struggle: there are so many models out there, but the quality and features varies wildly, and finding the "right" pieces to complete your set is a challenge. I designed these because I couldn't find any models that actually looked and felt like proper playing cards and would fit in organizers designed for real cards. Ā At 44x68mm (6th Edition mini European) and a razor-thin ~0.25mm, these offer the tactile feel of a real deck while fitting perfectly into "The Rotate-to-Play" Catan Card Organizer & Stand or other Catan card organizers.
š ļø Version History
- v1.3 (Current):
- Borders now extend completely through the entire card.
- Added colored resource symbols (R-symbols) in the corners, allowing you to easily identify cards even when only the top edge is visible in a holder or stack.
- Further optimized print settings for an even better surface finish.
- PS: Only use Matte Black PLA for the base. The pigment saturation in standard/glossy PLA is often not high enough, which can cause the resource symbols to bleed through and be visible from the back of the card when held up to the light.

š Help Other Settlers Find This!
3D printing a full Catan set is a massive undertaking, and finding the right models to print can be the hardest part. You can help make my models more visible to the Catan community:
- Rate the Profile: High ratings tell the algorithm this model is "table-ready," helping other players find it in a sea of search results.
- Share Your Prints: Posting a photo in the comments doesn't just show off your workāit provides "social proof" to others that these thin cards print successfully.
- Follow for More: By following, you help build a hub for Catan enthusiasts, ensuring that future expansions and organizers get the visibility they need to keep the project alive.

Achieving a smooth finish at only 0.25mm is a badge of honor! If these cards leveled up your game night, please consider dropping a BOOST. It keeps this project visible on the front page and supports the development of future Catan accessories.

ā ļø IMPORTANT: Printing & Optimization
While these are printed with a standard 0.4mm nozzle and are not as challenging as the Development Cards, they still require a fine touch to get perfect results:
- Filament Choice: Only use Matte Black PLA for the base. The pigment saturation in standard/glossy PLA is often not high enough, which can cause the resource symbols to bleed through and be visible from the back of the card when held up to the light.
- Precision Calibration: This profile is optimized for my specific printer and filament. To achieve a completely smooth surface, you should expect to make minor adjustments (flow rate, ironing settings, etc.) to suit your specific setup.
- To get the best possible results, follow these steps to calibrate your setup:
- Print just the black base without ironing and with a pause after the first layer, ensuring that you have a perfect foundation. Calibrate your filament or settings if the result isn't good enough.
- Print a version with all colors, but ironing only enabled on the black base and ensure that you still have a good result
- Print a version with all colors and ironing enabled to verify the final result before you print more than one card
Ā
- Zero Tolerance for Dirt: A completely clean build plate is mandatory. Even a small amount of oil or dust can cause a 0.25mm print to lift or warp.
- Ironing Artifacts: I have enabled ironing to get a smooth finish, but this WILL leave small, raised artifacts or "burrs" on the surface. These are easily removed by very carefully using a sharp scraper as a knife to shave them flat. If you skip this step, the cards will build more than 0.25mm and may not fit your card organizer.
