Description

Parametric Print‑in‑Place Box with Single Hinge

A fully parametric print‑in‑place box built around a single, compact hinge for a clean and minimal design. Before downloading, you can enter your preferred dimensions directly in MakerWorld, allowing the box to scale from small component storage to larger utility use. The hinge prints fully assembled, and support is enabled by default, though most printers produce clean results in PLA without needing it (If you use 0,12mm or 0,08mm profile you might need the support).

I would love it if you gave me a little feedback and maybe a boost :)

Size Range

This design can be generated in a wide range of dimensions, starting from 40 × 20 × 40 mm (Width × Height × Depth). You can scale the box up to the limits of your printer:

  • Width: Up to your printer’s full build width
  • Height + Depth: The combined dimension of Height + 2 × Depth must fit within your printer’s build depth

This ensures the single‑hinge layout prints reliably at any chosen size.

Features

  • Clean single‑hinge design for a compact, functional look
  • Fully parametric: enter custom dimensions before download
  • Prints as a single assembled piece
  • Designed for a solid, durable feel with precise hinge tolerances

Version

V1: Initial version

V2: Added parametric design

V3: Added flanges to the lid to better seal and solidify the box when closed

Instructions

The hinge is intentionally tight to give the box a solid, long‑lasting feel. After printing, loosen it by gently rotating the two halves back and forth around the hinge using small, controlled movements until it releases. The hinge tolerance is 0.2 mm, so avoid slicer tolerances or horizontal expansion values larger than this. Accurate dimensional settings ensure the hinge unlocks cleanly and moves as intended.
