Description

🔵 Shot Glass Engraving Holder – Angle Compensation Tool

This 3D printed holder is designed for engraving tapered metal shot glasses, for example when using a Bambu Lab H2C laser.

Most metal shot glasses are not perfectly vertical – their walls are slightly angled. Because of this, the laser beam does not hit the surface perpendicularly, which can result in distorted or uneven engraving.

This holder solves that problem. 🔧

✨ How it works

The holder tilts the glass in the opposite direction of its wall angle, so:

👉 the taper of the cup is compensated
👉 the engraving surface becomes nearly horizontal
👉 the laser hits the surface more accurately

💡 Result: cleaner and more accurate engraving

🧩 Designed for the Bambu Lab laser platform

The holder was specifically shaped to work well inside the original Bambu Lab laser platform.

Its base is designed to fit onto the cross support bars of the platform, including the toothed metal rails, which provides several advantages:

👉 it can be positioned securely on the platform
👉 it helps prevent slipping during use
👉 it keeps the holder centered from all sides
👉 it makes it easier to place the shot glass consistently in the middle

This makes the setup more stable and repeatable when engraving.

📐 Technical example (reference glass)

  • Bottom diameter: 25 mm
  • Top diameter: 37 mm
  • Height: 42 mm

👉 Wall angle: ~8.1° per side
👉 Total taper angle: ~16.2°

🔧 Compatibility

This holder works with any shot glass that:

✔️ has a tapered wall
✔️ has approximately a 16° total taper angle (≈8° per side)

🖨️ Printing Information

  • 🧩 Printable without supports
  • ⚙️ Simple and sturdy design
  • 🧵 PLA recommended
  • 🔧 0.4 mm nozzle

🎯 Use Cases

  • 🔥 Laser engraving (H2C and similar machines)
  • 🥃 Shot glass engraving
  • 🛠️ DIY jig / positioning tool

💡 Tip

If you use a different glass, check the wall angle first —
the holder performs best when the angle is similar.
