Description

This sled is a custom mounting solution designed for the Raspberry Pi 5 combined with the Radxa Penta SATA HAT, allowing you to build a high-performance, compact NAS. It is fully compatible with the 2U 7 SBC Holder by mklements.

  • Space Requirement: Occupies 3 vertical slots of the 2U holder.
  • Design Intent: This model was specifically created to solve thermal throttling issues. After testing several setups, I found that stacking the Radxa HAT, the Pi 5, and the drives too closely led to overheating.
  • Thermal Optimization: By isolating the SBC and the HAT, this design allows for superior transverse airflow, ensuring both the Pi 5 and the SATA controller stay cool under heavy loads.
  • Personal Setup: I personally use this with a separate SSD bay, connecting the Radxa HAT to the drives via SATA extension cables for maximum modularity and cooling.
