Please Boost if you like my model!

Did you know that there is a Guinness world record for the largest Jacobs Ladder? Well I just beat that record with my 3d printed Jacobs ladder! Can you beat my record of 4.5 meters?

If you are familiar with my Jacobs ladder toy design, you'll notice that unlike my previous model, this one is NOT print in place. It requires the user to assemble it. Now you can make the ladder as large and as long as you'd like! I dare you to beat my record! Please see assembly PDF or images below for instructions on how to build it!

NOTE:: The functional length will vary depending on the size of the blocks as well as a good taper in weight of the blocks from heaviest to lightest. Unfortunately the 100% scale wont work past 7 feet. I do not know the max functional length of the 350% scale (the scale of  my ladder in the world record gif). It worked very well at 15 feet but thats due to not having anything higher to test on.

If you are trying to break my record then please take note of the following!

  1. The blocks MUST have a taper in their weight. Heaviest at the top, tapering down to the lightest at the bottom.
  2. All parts must be scaled to the same size.
  3. The parts can be scaled to the max size of which ever printer you are using.
  4. Parts must be assembled as shown in the assembly document.

I know I said "infinite" in the title but the functional length will vary depending on the size of the blocks as well as a good taper in weight of the blocks from heaviest to lightest. Unfortunately the 100% scale wont work past 7 feet. I do not know the max functional length of the 250% scale. It worked very well at 15 feet but thats just a random length that I stopped building at.

Scaled down to 75% and with a quick spray of silicone spray works perfectly. Thanks for the great model I wanted to see how long I could print at 75%. I got to 2 meters (6 1/2 feet). But any longer and I don't think it would be functionable. Fantastic model and easy to put together if instructions are followed.

How were the instructions? Did you have any issues or were there any areas that needed more clarity?

I must have done something right because both of them work. Was confused because all 10 of my block weight exactly 23 grams, and I had 26 links, 30 pins and the correct 6 ends. Was confused about the (3X-3) and the (3X) after the number needed. I guess the weight difference was alluding to the longer than 10 foot versions. In any event it was a good print and a fun assembly, I just used the pictures and not the attached instructions. I did read in another post that the poster used some silicone as an aid to operation and I too used a bit of dry silicone to make mine move slicker. Thanks for a great model, I look forward to some more from you.

Print was fine, works as a Jacob's Ladder toy will. See pics. NOTE: It is not possible to store this toy in a stacked/compact form (see pic of wooden toy)

The printing looks good so far. I'm making this for my nephew and he loves stuff like this. I will post a picture when its done. I had to make it shorter because hes a little guy but printed in ABS and functions amazingly.

Nice!! Please make sure you look over the directions. There is a pattern to the assembly that I tried to depict visually as best as I could. Let me know if you have any issues assembling it!
