3D-Printed Tripod Floor Lamp Made from Round Wooden Dowels

Short Description

This modern tripod floor lamp combines 35 mm round wooden dowels with custom 3D-printed connector parts.

The centerpiece is the self-designed connector system for the three-leg structure, providing stability, precise angles, and a clean mounting point for the main support pole.

In addition, the foot caps, upper cable guide, and the lampshade (50 × 22.5 cm) are also fully 3D printed.

The result is a warm wood look, a minimalist design, and, naturally, that very human urge to improve everyday objects with plastic fresh off the printer.

The model intentionally includes a small amount of tolerance/play, because experience has shown that not every wooden dowel maintains the exact same diameter across its full length.

It may be necessary to sand the wood in certain areas to ensure that all parts fit properly.

The lampshade can also be printed and must be glued together after printing.

I printed the parts in ABS, but PETG and PLA should work as well.

Materials

To buy separately

• 3× round wooden dowels, 35 mm diameter
• alternatively: files for 28 mm
• lamp socket + cable
• LED bulb
• wood screws or glue, depending on assembly preference

3D printable parts

• 1× central 3D-printed tripod connector
• 3× 3D-printed foot caps
• 4× 3D-printed cable guides / cable clips
• 1× lampshade, 50 cm diameter, 22.5 cm height

The project was intentionally designed so that the printed connector parts are universally interchangeable.

Thanks to the second version for 28 mm round wood, the lamp can easily be adapted to different materials without redesigning the entire structure. A rare example of actual human foresight, frankly.
