High-Velocity CFD Dust Shroud for Vevor 1x30 Belt Grinder

I couldn't find any air intakes to download for this great little Vevor 1x30 grinder so I made one. The custom-designed dust shroud upgrades the standard Vevor 1x30 belt grinder by applying some basic fluid dynamics principles to to actively manage and capture airborne particulate. Rather than relying on passive suction, the internal geometry is engineered to manipulate the airflow directly off the belt. Maybe best of all it relies on existing mounting points so you don't have to permanently modify the machine and can easily replace it if you'd like to modify or upgrade it yourself.

Aerodynamic Features:

• Rifled Volute Chamber: The core of the shroud utilizes a rifled volute design. This geometry forces the incoming air into a high-speed vortex, significantly accelerating the capture of heavier metal and wood particles before they can escape the grinding zone.
• Coandă Flare Intake: The entry point integrates a Coandă Flare to guide the boundary layer of the high-velocity air. This reduces localized turbulence and ensures the airflow "sticks" to the intended extraction path, minimizing dust blowback.
• Optimized Flow Path: The transition from the intake to the exhaust is modeled to prevent pressure drops, maintaining the structural integrity of the vortex all the way to the vacuum source.

Mounting

• The model leverages the exisitng bolts that come on the model.
• You thread them through the model itself and then use TPU plugs to seal the gaps where the bolts have threaded through.
• This was the most elegant solution I had at the time; if you'd like to improve - go for it!

Hose Port & Fittings:

The exhaust port is precisely dimensioned for a seamless, pressure-fit connection with a Makita 18v vacuum I had that I use for metal grinding.
