Description

Made this cable comb for 28AWG and AOC (Active Optical Cable) patch cables, since most of the cable combs I found are designed for thicker cables like Cat5 / Cat6 / Cat6a. With 28AWG cables becoming more common, especially in places where reducing cable clutter matters, I wanted something that fits the smaller cable size better.

This comb helps keep cables straight, parallel, and easier to manage by running the cables through it and aligning them into a neat bundle.

400G QSFP-DD Active Optical Cable (AOC)

Design

This is a 2-piece design:

  • an inner piece where the cables are placed
  • an outer ring that snaps around the inner part to hold everything together

The ring and inner body have a snap-fit design, so the comb stays assembled securely when not being handled.

Features

  • Designed specifically for 28AWG cables and Multi mode AOC's
  • 2-part snap-fit design
  • Low print time
  • Easy-to-print curved geometry
  • Chamfered / curved cable exit to help avoid damaging the cables
  • Keeps cables straight and organized
  • Compact and practical design, 78mm diameter

Inspiration

The model was inspired by the Panduit cable comb style, but I added a few features that I felt were important for this type of use, especially for smaller-diameter 28AWG cables.

Useful for

This cable comb can be useful for:

  • Data center work
  • Network engineers / installers
  • Telecom / telco setups
  • Electricians
  • Patch panel work
  • Home labs
  • DIY home network runs
  • Anyone who wants cleaner-looking cable bundles
