🏠 Aquarium Negative Pressure Connector | Instantly transform your aquarium into a "duplex" — Break the aquarium barrier and build an aerial walkway for your fish babies!

Core Features

  • Uses the principle of air negative pressure to connect water above two independent aquariums, creating a safe "aerial passage"
  • Small fish can freely shuttle between two aquariums, bidding farewell to the crowding and monotony of a single tank
  • No drilling, no plumbing; simply clip it between two aquariums, then use a soft tube to vacuum out the air from the connector. Even a novice can install it successfully on the first try.

🛠️ Design Highlights

  • Transparent and viewable: Observe the fish's movement at any time, like watching a mini-aquarium commute drama (not as transparent as glass or acrylic)
  • Adaptable to aquarium sizes: Suitable for aquarium wall thickness of 4mm-6mm (total thickness no more than 13mm). Most glass tanks can be used directly.
  • No supports Print in Place: Stable structure, no leaks or seepage, remains stable even when immersed in water for a long time.
  • Printing notes: Best printed with colorless transparent PETG filament, no supports; ready to use right after printing.

To prevent leaks and ensure maximum transparency, please do not change printing parameters

Creating this aquarium negative pressure connector was entirely driven by my own needs. I've always wanted to connect my two small aquariums at home, allowing the fish to swim freely and creating a larger activity space. However, after seeing acrylic and glass products on the market, even the smallest sizes cost dozens of yuan... so I decided to model and 3D print one myself.

At first, I also tried domed and flat-topped designs, which looked neater, but when printed, I found that supports were essential. However, with supports, removal left scars, severely affected transparency, and made it very easy to tear the walls or cause leaks. For a negative pressure connector, this is a fatal problem.

So I repeatedly modified the structure and finally settled on this little house-like triangular gabled design. This is because 3D printing slopes not exceeding 45° can be printed completely without supports. Each layer is securely supported, requiring no supports, ready to use directly after printing, and ensuring a smooth surface without marks.

I also specifically used a single-wall tight structure, so during printing, each layer fits snugly without gaps. At the time of release, I had personally tested it for 7 days, and it was completely leak-proof, airtight, and very stable throughout.

This design doesn't aim for fancy aesthetics; all details revolve around: easy printing without supports, airtight and leak-proof, and striving for high transparency. The goal was to create a practical item truly suitable for fish keepers and 3D printing enthusiasts, achieving the functionality of market products costing dozens of yuan for just a few yuan. It effortlessly turns two small tanks into one large one, providing fish with a real swimming tunnel. My fish didn't recognize it at first, but once they got used to it, they continuously shuttled back and forth between the two sides every day, having a great time.

Here are the steps to use it, 100% success

Step 1

Prepare a soft tube
Preferably a bit long (>40cm)

Step 2

Insert one end of the soft tube into the connector
Insert it into the top part

Step 3

Facing the other end of the soft tube
First blow air
(to blow out the water in the tube)
Then suck air
(to draw out the air from the connector)

Done~
