Description
This soccer ball is part of the sports ball collection, designed as a fully modular system built from 12 identical panels.
Each panel features an integrated pocket-and-tab connection, allowing the ball to snap together into a smooth, seamless sphere.
The assembly process is simple, satisfying, and repeatable, while the interchangeable panels allow for multiple color patterns and surface variations using the same core geometry.
Design Features
- No supports, no waste, no glue
- Designed for both AMS and non-AMS workflows
- Multiple pattern variations using the same parts
- Press-fit, puzzle-like assembly
- Optional keychain-compatible panel
- Clean spherical surface with minimal visible seams
- Scaled to match the collection (1:5 scale)
Assembly Instructions

- Hold two panels together with their flat edges facing each other. Add one panel on each side to form a 4-panel shell.
- Repeat to create a second 4-panel shell.
- Bring both shells together and align them.
- Snap in the remaining four panels one at a time to close the sphere.
- (Optional) Install the keychain panel as the final piece.
- Avoid fully locking pieces too early. Once assembled, press all panels firmly into place to secure the ball.
Printing Notes
- Profiles tested on Bambu Cool Plate (SuperTack) with Bambu Matte filament
- Matte filaments give the best surface finish and reduce layer visibility
- AMS profiles: each plate prints a complete ball depending on the selected pattern
- Non-AMS users: print all 12 identical panels to assemble one full ball
- Pattern-specific notes:
- Pattern 1 – Bands: Can be printed without AMS using pause-at-layer
- Pattern 2 – Classic: Print panels and inserts separately
- Pattern 3 – Textured: Fastest print; works well with dual-color or gradient filament
- Pattern 4 – Circles: Print panels and apply color using the included stencil
Sports Ball Collection
This model is part of the Sports Ball Miniature, a growing series where each ball explores a different geometric approach to building spheres using modular assemblies.
