Did you know? MakerWorld gives out free Boost tokens to active users! These tokens can be used to support any model you love -- at no cost to you. You may not even know that you have Boost tokens. But they are a big help to creators. Please show your appreciation by boosting the models that you like.
Elevate your smart home setup with this versatile 3D-printed mounting system designed specifically to give your Ecobee SmartSensor the perfect vantage point. Whether you need a wall mount, a Skadis pegboard attachment, or a sleek freestanding desk stand, this design offers the ultimate flexibility for any room in your house. Each mount features a secure snap-in clip and a precision ball-and-socket joint, allowing you to tilt and rotate your sensor freely to ensure the most accurate temperature readings and motion detection.
Three options are provided:
- Wall Mount. The mounting bracket can be attached to the wall using one pair of “picture hanging” command strips, or by using the provided screw holes.
- Skadis Mount. The mounting bracket slides into any Skadis-compatible peg board.
- Freestanding. Place it on a table, shelf, desk or any other horizontal surface.
Instructions:
- Attach the base mounting bracket (the part with the socket on it) to your preferred mounting surface.
- Snap the ball and socket together.
- Snap your Ecobee SmartSensor into the clip.
The ball and socket hold together tightly enough that they are secure. But they are still loose enough that you can adjust the position any way you like. The ball and socket are designed to flex, without permanently deforming, when you snap them together. This works best with a springy filament like PETG. PLA may work if you don't pull them apart and snap them together too many times.
The end of the ball is designed to print with fuzzy skin, which helps it to stay where you put it.
Two print profiles are included. The best one prints mainly with PETG and uses PLA as the support interface. If you have an AMS and can use this profile, it makes the supports come off very cleanly. If you don't have an AMS, you can use the other profile. The supports should still come off pretty cleanly. But they may stick a little.
These models use elements of trrevvorr's Ecobee SmartSensor Clip, and Axolotl's Ball Joint Vertical models. I cut the ball joint apart and adapted each half to attach either to the clip, or to one of the various wall mount solutions.
