The Mission: Technology with Warmth

A hospital environment can be overwhelming for a child. Between the white walls and medical equipment, there is a moment every brave patient dreads: the "Piekser" (the sting). Whether it is a blood test or a treatment session, these moments are filled with anxiety and a sense of losing control.

This collection of Sensory Bravery Stones was designed specifically for the Pieksekisten project in Augsburg, Germany. Our goal is to transform a moment of fear into a moment of focus, comfort, and even a little bit of joy.

Solving the Problem: More Than Just a Toy

Children facing oncology treatments need a physical anchor. These stones solve three critical psychological needs:

1. Grounding & Stress Relief: When anxiety spikes, the brain needs sensory input to snap back to reality. By rubbing the specific textures, children can practice grounding techniques that lower heart rate.
2. The Power of Choice & Collection: In a place where everything is decided for them, letting a child choose their own "Bravery Stone" restores agency. These stones are designed to be collected. With each treatment, a child can pick a new color or texture, turning a difficult journey into a "collection quest" for bravery.
3. Ergonomic Security: The asymmetrical shape, pictured here in the hand of a 4-year-old child, offers genuine comfort. The wavy side provides a secure grip for small fingers, while the smooth, recessed center is the perfect landing zone for a thumb.

Engineering for Empathy (The CAD Advantage)

As a CAD specialist at CoinCraft3D, I optimized these models for real-world charity impact:

• Fast & Affordable: Time and material are precious. These stones are designed to print in under 20 minutes (on Bambu Lab printers) using minimal filament. This allows charities to produce them in high volumes at a very low cost.
• Universal Design: Pictured in the hand of a 4-year-old, the base design fits naturally into a small palm. You can easily scale the model up for older children or mirror it for left-handed heroes.
• Five Sensory Experiences: From the rhythmic "Zig-zag" to the "Paw Print", each texture offers a different level of tactile feedback.
• Coming Soon: To keep the collection safe, I am currently designing a dedicated "Treasure Box" for these stones. Stay tuned!
