Description

This is a working physical model of the Eridian Clock as depicted in the film, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

In the novel and its film adaptation, the alien species known as Eridians use a base-6 numbering system. The alien character, Rocky, possesses a clock that reflects this system. Rather than dividing time in the base-10-influenced human manner, the Eridian clock is organized in powers of 6.

It can be built with and without the electronics.

Print with PLA Matte.  I recommend Charcoal color.  I printed mine with whatever filament I had on hand.  Then I painted it with black spray paint.  Then I sponged on small amounts of gold and silver acrylic paint.

A video of it in operation is here:

The Arduino Sketch for this is here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/rlbhdaqnfbylh036cpbpj/eridian_clock.zip?rlkey=rlch6zkdnqt41gnnzoy8inmsk&st=pqjbfw0a&dl=0

Thanks go to @tomas.kuchler for giving me ideas on how to do this.
