Description
How to Customize This Model
This model is fully parametric. Every dimension can be changed directly in MakerWorld Customizer or in OpenSCAD. Here is what every parameter does and what values to use.
BODY
DIAMETRO_CORPO — outer diameter of your rocket body tube in mm. This must match exactly the body tube section you are using. Default: 35mm. Common values: 29mm / 35mm / 40mm / 54mm.
H_CODA — total height of the fin can section in mm. Make it taller if you want fins higher up on the body. Default: 80mm.
SPESSORE — wall thickness in mm. Do not go below 2mm. Default: 2.5mm.
MOTOR
DIAMETRO_MOTORE — inner diameter of the motor tube in mm. This must match your motor exactly. → 18mm = Estes A8 / B6 / C6 → 24mm = Estes D12 / E12 → 29mm = larger composite motors
THREADED CONNECTION
H_CONNETTORE — length of the male threaded connector that plugs into the body tube above. Default: 20mm. Increase if connection feels weak.
TOLLERANZA — gap between male and female thread in mm. Default: 0.2mm for press fit. Increase to 0.3mm if threads are too tight on your printer.
FINS
N_PINNE — number of fins. Default: 5. Recommended values: 3 for sport flying / 4 for classic look / 5 for maximum stability.
CORDA_BASE — root chord in mm. This is the length of the fin where it attaches to the body. Longer = more stability. Default: 50mm.
CORDA_PUNTA — tip chord in mm. This is the length of the fin at the outer tip. Shorter than root chord = tapered fin. Default: 25mm.
ALTEZZA_PINNA — fin span in mm. How far the fin extends away from the body. Taller fins = more stability but more drag. Default: 25mm.
SWEEP_LUNGHEZZA — sweep length in mm. How far back the leading edge of the fin tip is compared to the root. Higher value = more swept back look. Default: 50mm.
SPESSORE_PINNA — fin thickness in mm. Do not go below 2.5mm for structural integrity. Default: 3mm.
FIN POSITION
OFFSET_PINNE_Z — moves fins up or down along the body axis in mm. Default: 50mm from bottom. Set to 0 if you want fins starting at the very bottom.
RACCORDO_ROOT — fillet radius at fin root in mm. Adds a smooth blend where fin meets body. Default: 0 = sharp edge. Recommended: 3-5mm for cleaner look.
FIN PROFILE
SEZIONE_PINNA — cross section shape of the fin. Choose based on your flight speed:
→ squadrata — flat rectangular edges. Easiest to print. Good for slow flights under 100m.
→ subsonica — rounded leading edge, pointed trailing edge. Better aerodynamics for medium speed flights. Slightly harder to print.
→ supersonica — double wedge profile, both edges pointed. Best aerodynamics for fast flights. Requires precise printer calibration.
→ rastremata — flat center section with blended edges. Good balance between printability and aerodynamics.
LAUNCH LUG
LUG_ENABLE — true/false. Enables the launch guide tube on the side of the fin can. Always true if you are launching with a rod or rail.
LUG_OD — outer diameter of the launch lug tube in mm. Default: 6mm.
LUG_ID — inner hole diameter in mm. Must match your launch rod. Default: 3.2mm for standard 3mm Estes rod.
LUG_LUNGHEZZA — length of the launch lug tube in mm. Default: 30mm. Longer = more stable guidance on the rod.
LUG_Z — vertical position of the launch lug on the body in mm from the bottom. Default: 15mm.
The launch lug is positioned automatically between two fins — it will never interfere with fins regardless of how many fins you choose..
