Description

Presenting the Root Board Game System - Remix!

The original Root Board Game System by @extroodle was exceptional work, and was 95% the solution I wanted. The RBGS-R (pronounced “er-big-sir” by probably nobody) is a remix of almost every module, with tweaks and improvements that cover that last 5%.

Knaves of the Deepwood

No faction tray was available for the Knaves of the Deepwood in the original Root Board Game System (RBGS), so this is my creation based on the previous faction RBGS modules. It is compatible with any other RBGS modules and shares all the features from the regular faction trays along with my RBGS-R improvements.

The Vagabond and Knaves share meeples and starting items, so this tray only holds the Knaves-specific components. This means that to play as the Knaves, you’ll need to take out both this module and the Vagabond module. Fortunately, the Knaves and Vagabond can never be in the same game together anyway.

The new Vagabond cards and Vagabond meeples that come with the Homeland expansion are stored in the Vagabond module.

Base Changes

Note: Since this is an original faction module, there was no “change” from the RBGS base, but I’ve still listed the general difference between the RBGS-R bases and the RBGS bases.

Added a wall to the card well

Cards can no longer slide out accidentally while the insert is being handled. The card well still fits card sleeves up to 67mm wide. Personally, I have the unsleeved summary card, captain cards, and clarification cards.

Printed it and this is fantastic, is there a reason you didn't include Items that the skunks use in this insert?

Yeah, the items are shared by the vagabond and stored in that tray, so I figured there wasn’t a reason to include them here too. Especially since the vagabond meeples are stored in the vagabond tray too, and the vagabond and knaves can’t be in the same game anyway. Instead of splitting the pieces between the two—and not knowing which tray to look in for particular pieces—it seemed cleaner to just say the knaves need to grab both their own tray and the vagabond’s.

Replying to @AegisToast :
no problem, just wanted to potentially have everything for two games in the box. since player boards can now be converted to card stock and are much thinner. is there an opportunity to have the clearing markers, hirelings and alt decks in the other box for a solid 2 box solution?

Thanks a ton for this full set remix it is amazing and over the next few days I will be printing them all. II will give you feedback on each. For Knaves, I ran into three minor issues: 1) the walls for the meeple worked great except for the last two on one side--the four meeple in the two slots only fit if i forced them in and they were then nearly impossible to remove. So I cut the all out between them, which allows them to fit, but they are lose, which is a bummer. 2) The circular tokens slot is a little too big so they are not snug 3) with sleeved cards (100 micron) the summary, advanced set up, captions, and clarification cards do not all fit. I took sleeves off advanced and clarification and removed summary and I was able to push real hard to make them fit. If there was literally .05 more space, all them would fit sleeved. Can't wait to print them all, thanks for your awesome work!
