A BEAUTIFUL & PRETTY HANGING PLANT POT

My wife has an ornamental and very large terracotta garden feature, it has a multitude of star shaped cutouts and has been with us for many years. Over time its become grubby and its not very easy to clean, and so she asked me to find a way to display plants on it

This is the result, I designed a simple, modular and pretty hanging plant pot which slips into a supporting hoop and has a selection of removable hooks for different scenarios. They printed out and worked so well that I thought I'd share them here on MakerWorld as a free download and for any fellow garden enthusiasts to print and display in their own gardens and homes

How does it work?

  • There are two types of pot with each one measuring ~175mm x 95mm x 140mm tall. One has holes in the bottom, the other doesn't
  • There is a hoop which snuggly supports the pot, the hoop has an additional rectangular hole which holds the various hooks and bracket
  • The small push pin supports the hooks and the bracket on the hoop - push the pin into its receptacle from the inside of the hoop
  • There are multiple sizes and shapes of hooks to choose from, these can be used for hanging the pots on balconies, small fences or window sills. There is an additional bracket which you can screw to a post or wall too
  • Mix and match different colours for the hoop and the pot, my wife liked the blue and yellow combinations

I'd recommend using the pot with holes and ABS filament for outdoors; its water resistant and mildly permeable which is healthier for the plant roots. Other waterproof filaments such as PETG or ASA (which is also UV resistant) could work quite well too, and would be a better option if you decide to display them indoors

What makes this hanging pot different from all the others?
This pot can be displayed indoors or outdoors, on a veranda or on a balcony, in your motorhome or RV, on a fence or a wall or even on a garden feature :)  Its customisable, durable and should last a long time. It would make a great present for the true horticulturalist who I'd like think would appreciate its practical features

Tips for printing

  • Larger layer heights work well ~0.28mm.  You may want to play around with infill percentages. 15% infill worked best for me with ABS
  • Set the Seam Position to Random, this creates such a beautiful effect on the outside of the pot and makes it easier to hold too

Thanks for looking

Do you know what a Boost Token is?

If you download models from MakerWorld.com it is likely that you've got some boost tokens in your account

They are awarded for completing certain tasks, such as downloading a model

It's likely that you have quite a few, but may not be aware of them

Tokens typically have an expiry date and many ppl do let them expire and don't use them - its a shame, but they're easy to overlook ;)

When you see a ‘Boost Me’ section, like the one below and click it, you will be able to gift a creator a boost of points, you can boost several times too

After a period of time these build up and the grateful receiver can exchange them for a growing list of rewards, such as filament, maker kits and more

Its a great way to say thank you!
