Description
I just finished printing this prototype for a custom trophy. For the design, I opted for a structure of overlapping blocks with a reinforced base to ensure stability, surmounted by a cylindrical decorative element with radial bristles.
Technically, the piece was made in matte grey PLA (matte) on an FDM printer. I set a layer height of 0.2 mm to balance print times and surface definition, with a 10% gyroid infill to keep the piece lightweight yet structurally solid.
As seen from the photos taken directly on the workbench in the workshop, the surface finish is excellent: the vertical walls are clean and the adhesion between layers is perfect. The model was designed to be customized post-print, leaving the faces of the blocks completely smooth so that embossed lettering or laser-engraved tags can be applied later.
