2x12 mm Stainless Steel Dowel Pins (20PCS) - DA009

Description

Small flip-lid wall-mounted trash bin designed to fit common 18×27–22×32 cm produce bags. I made it as a replacement for my old IKEA diaper pail, which became unnecessarily large once its primary user outgrew diapers. The mounting holes use the same 40 mm spacing.

The lid is mounted on 2×12 mm steel rods. For a relatively dry environment they could be easily made from 2 mm (roughly equivalent to US 5d nails) nails with cut off heads — mine is mounted in the far corner of the bathroom above the washing machine and there's no rust. If you want to be safer/fancier, you could use 2 mm titanium welding rod: they're quite cheap (got 5×500 mm for ≈$8) and totally rust free, used one in my toothbrush holder directly above the sink.

Rods are friction-fitted into the lid holes: chuck the rod in a drill with about two-thirds sticking out, then press it into the hole while spinning it.
The outer frame has enough flex to spread slightly and snap the lid in.

I'm new to 3D printing, so the print profile is probably far from optimal—but it works :)
