Description
Topic
The original idea for a simple drill sharpener/grinding support WITHOUT exact lateral adjustment and axial fastening actually comes from Justquickmade, but I don't want to exclude him here and would like to name him as a designer.
However, I have improved this work and created a completely new device with optimized support and axial screw clamping.
Reason
The purely straight grinding support with 2 angled notches, formerly presented here, which is placed on a conventional hobby grinding machine with an edge, moved sideways or twisted during drill sharpening. I didn't think that was very good.
It was also very dangerous to handle.
I didn't like that at all, so I made the support flatter, on the one hand, due to the now deeper point of contact of the disc on the drill (better drill grind) and, on the other hand, created an additional fastening option for the movable support on the device itself.
Operation
The new support is now inserted with its dovetail into the lower guide of the device. The drill is thus precisely aligned obliquely below 59 degrees to the center of the disc and tightened using a lateral locking screw, depending on the right or left drill position (+59°, -59°).
The specially designed and clicked-in circlip prevents the clamping screw from unintentionally unscrewing. But it is not a must.
Now, finally, no more lateral drill slippage during grinding.
Assembly/Disassembly
The lower angle device must first be screwed to the grinding machine, see pictures.
The originally existing steel angle must be unscrewed.
Please be sure to keep for reassembly!
The fasteners such as carriage bolt and washers are reused in the same way.
Can be used for all commercially available hobby grinding stands of the Meister Craft brand, see photos.
Please check the ambient conditions on the grinding machine beforehand regarding fastening options for the device.
I used normal PLA material with standard (0.2mm, 6 walls, 50% infill, supports!!!) print settings,
but I recommend PETG due to the grinding heat on the drill.
Have fun printing and drill sharpening!
DISCLAIMER
Please be careful when grinding, wear glasses and gloves.
I assume no guarantee or liability for (careless) work and injuries with this device!
PS: Please don't forget to give me a BOOST!
