Focke-Wulf Triebflügel
Print Profile(1)

Description
The Focke-Wulf Triebflügel ("powered wing" in German) or Triebflügeljäger ("wing-propelled fighter") was an aircraft concept developed by the Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau company in 1944, during the final phase of World War II as a means of defense against the incessant bombing raids of the Allies over central Germany. It was an interceptor design that, supported on its tail, could take off and land vertically (VTOL capability) intended for use as local defense in industrial areas or important areas without runways. Of the Triebflügel a prototypehad not yet been built and it had only reached tests in the wind tunnel when Allied forces took over the production facilities.
