Universal Dovetail Wall Mount & 8mm Cable Grommet

Hey everyone! I designed this dovetail slide-in wall mount because I needed a sturdy way to hang some speakers out on my open terrace. I specifically chose a dovetail joint because it makes it incredibly easy to just slide the speakers off and bring them indoors during the winter when the humidity gets too high (especially MDF speakers). I'm really happy to report that the mount holds the weight perfectly and feels very secure!

Since my plans changed a bit while working on this, the .3mf file actually includes two different versions. Both plates include a complete set (the "female" wall-side part, the "male" device-side part, and a cable grommet designed specifically for an 8mm hole to keep your wire routing looking clean):

  • Plate 1 (For longer/bulkier items): This version gives you a bit more clearance and length. This is the one I ended up using for my terrace speakers.
  • Plate 2 (Compact version): I originally designed this smaller version for some little plastic speakers I was planning to buy. But I ended up finding some older speakers I completely forgot I had, so I skipped buying the new ones for now!

Material Note: I have only printed and tested these using PETG HF, which gave me great results for strength and outdoor weather resistance.

A quick heads-up: I am pretty new to 3D modeling, and this is one of my very first functional projects! I've printed and tested it successfully for my own setup, but I would absolutely love to hear your feedback or any tips you might have for a beginner.

Please share your makes and let me know what you end up mounting with these. Happy printing!
