Hello everyone,

I designed a small keychain that visually resembles the iOS app icon of the Bambu Handy app and has a hint on the back that an NFC tag is inside. The pendant is printed around an NFC tag, by means of a pause during printing, during which the tag can be glued in.

Notes on choosing the NFC tag. Inside the pendant, there is enough space for a tag with dimensions of 0.7mm (height) x 26mm (diameter). For thinner tags, I have added a small plate (spacer), which can be glued after/additionally/on top of the tag, so that only 0.3mm height remains inside instead of 0.7mm. Of course, you can also cut out the tags from your used Bambu Spools and use them for this purpose, there is enough space for them, but unfortunately, I didn't have any on hand.

Printing instructions:

  • optional: Print the spacer if your NFC tag is thinner than 0.3mm
  • Start printing the pendant
  • wait until printing automatically pauses
  • insert or, even better, glue in the NFC tag
  • optional: Glue the spacer onto the tag
  • then resume printing and wait until it is complete

NFC Tag usage:

Depending on which smartphone you use, you may need an app that can read/write NFC tags. There are many free options (e.g., NFC Tools for iOS). In your MakerWorld profile, click on share (or copy the link if you are in a browser) and write this to the tag using the URL function of the NFC app. After that, when you tap the tag, it should suggest opening the link (even without the app, if NFC is active).
