OmniScape — OmniMesh Mini (10×10×15) Terrarium Enclosure

OmniMesh Mini is a compact 10 × 10 × 15 cm enclosure designed for ultra-fast production and practical support in early-stage breeding / rearing of mantises, stick insects, and phasmids (especially in the first growth stages). It’s built to be very stable and safe, while staying clean and functional.

All parts are fully printable and the enclosure can be assembled in just a few seconds — exactly as shown in the attached GIF.

Specs

  • Overall size: 10 × 10 × 15 cm (3.94 × 3.94 × 5.91 in)

Key features

  • Very stable, secure construction — designed to stay rigid and safe in daily use
  • Instant assembly — click-together build in seconds (see GIF)
  • Adjustable ventilation — tune airflow by changing infill in the top lid and side panels
  • Optional clear front panel — replace the front with plexi or glass: 77 × 115 mm
    (3.03 × 4.53 in)

TOP! Thank you very much! We opted for 2 sides of acrylic. We cut the panes from a 1 Euro picture frame to fit. The fit of the terrarium forgives minor errors. The side parts are difficult to push in. But it is very stable, light and compact. Printed with PETG. We will print more. A huge financial relief.

By any chance, could you design an iteration of the lid that can receive a mesh panel or a piece of glass, so that light can pass through? Thanks in advance!

No problem at all — I just need a bit of time. I’ll be posting the next updates on Friday–Saturday, 04.04.2026.

I just downloaded the 3MF and opened it in Bambu Studio — everything is fine. If you downloaded only the STL files, then unfortunately it will look like that, because the settings are in the slicer.

how do i make the mesh a bit finer? ( I feed my jumping spider tiny flightless fruit flies)

First in the slicer: select the mesh object, set Bottom layers = 0 and Top layers = 0, use Honeycomb infill, and start at 25%. After that, it’s all about the compromise between ventilation and bite resistance/strength. Some mantis or stick insect species can chew surprisingly hard, so even 20% infill may be vulnerable for that group. My rule of thumb: 20–25% is a good airflow + strength balance; for smaller but stronger / more “aggressive” specimens I go ~30% and I recommend transparent filament (clean look, still strong). My ideal setup: 30–35% everywhere + a 2mm plexiglass front panel, so you get perfect visibility and maximum strength. If you keep getting a solid wall, the slicer is likely treating the mesh as thin walls/merged features—try scaling the model slightly up or tweaking thin-wall/min feature settings. Also double-check you didn’t enable “ironing” or extra perimeters, and that line width is not larger than the mesh gaps; lowering wall count can help too. Hope that helps!!
