Description

A simple film washer which will take multiple 35mm, 120, 4x5 or other sizes of reel.

Sized to accept the Jobo 2500 series reels, it should take all smaller ones (and the big Jobo 4x5 reels). Exactly how many reels it will hold depends on your film format of course.  The core is small enough to fit inside all reels I have found so far.

The base has vanes to promote swirling flow to make sure there is constant movement of the water, and the core is hollow to promote flow.

The inlet hole is ¾ BSP which is also the common “Garden hose Thread”. There are plenty of adapters on Makerwork for ¾ hose thread garden hose quick connector, or to plain hose.

I printed in simple black PLA, but I would expect PETG or ABS to be just fine too.
The only place that needs any support is the base of the core, where Bambu Slicer adds a brim. That makes sure the core doesn't fall over during printing.

When you screw in your chosen inlet fitting, remember that it's a pipe thread and so expands into the hole as you tighten it. Don't go too hard or you might crack the print. I found that finger tight, plus 1/16th turn seemed to seal it pretty well. Of course, that will depend on how well your printer prints the threads, maybe add a wrap of PTFE tape.  Anyway, a little leakage from the inlet will usually not be a problem in the darkroom with lots of other sources of water and chemicals sloshing about, and of course, a garden quick connector isn't known for being 100% drip free.
