Description

Mille Fleur d'Uccle Bantam Chicken

Introduction

Bring one of the most ornate and beloved bantam breeds to life on your print bed! The Mille Fleur d'Uccle, whose name translates from French as “thousand flowers” is a Belgian bantam chicken celebrated for its stunning speckled plumage: a rich chestnut base coat layered with black-tipped feathers edged in bright white. This model captures the breed's most iconic features: the round, bearded face, feathered legs and feet, vulture hocks, and the low, broad stance that gives the Mille Fleur its unmistakable silhouette.

Whether you keep backyard chickens yourself, love ornamental bird art, or just appreciate a highly detailed figurine, this model is a charming addition to any shelf, garden, or coop décor.

Painting

This model is designed as a single solid-color print and is an excellent canvas for hand painting. To recreate the breed's iconic look, try painting the body in a warm chestnut or auburn base, then adding black-tipped feathers edged in white. Finish with a red comb and wattles. Acrylic paints work great, and a light primer coat beforehand will help the paint adhere to the surface smoothly.

Troubleshooting

If you experience overhang issues or drooping on the chest, beard, or front leg feather areas, try adding manual supports specifically to the front-facing side of the model. The front of the chicken has the most outward-facing detail and can benefit from additional support contact points in that area. Most slicers allow you to paint on manual supports, target the underside of the breast, beard, and any front-leg feather overhangs for the best results.

Notes

The feathered legs and beard details are intentionally intricate, take care when removing supports in those areas to preserve the fine surface detail. Display upright on a flat surface for the best presentation of the bird's characteristic wide, stable stance.
