I had to mount my Victron Easy Solar 12V horizontally in my bus. A 12V MPPT solar charge controller 100/50 is installed internally.

The housing and the MPPT solar charge controller have cooling fins on the back,

which are now also oriented flat, preventing proper air circulation.

However, to be able to continuously draw full power and not be throttled by excessive heat buildup.

Therefore, I designed an additional ventilation system that can accommodate a 120mm fan. To keep the temperature constant and cool the MPPT solar charge controller with fresh air. This prevents power throttling. In my case, due to the environment and lack of space under the device, it became a two-part design.

The temperature sensor is located inside on the cooling fins of the MPPT solar charge controller.

For the fans, a simple or a precise controller can be used. I recommend the precise controller because it offers more options and better adjustment possibilities.

For example, in my case: The fan starts rotating at 35C° and reaches 100% at 45C°. The fan then stops rotating again when the temperature drops below 33C°.
