Description
I kept my IEMs plugged into my DAC at my desk and just kind of tossed on the surface when I wasn't using them. My cats chewed through my last pair and shattered the housing, so I needed something that would keep them organized and actually protected while still plugged in.
Couldn't find anything like this on MakerWorld so I made it. It's a simple tray with two pockets, a center divider, and a lift-off lid held on by magnets. There's a slot in the front wall so the cable can stay connected with the lid closed.
Designed around the Thieaudio Origin with SpinFit CP155 medium tips, but the whole thing is written in OpenSCAD with every dimension as a variable at the top of the file. If you have different IEMs just measure your shells, change the numbers, re-export. Takes 30 seconds.
Prints in two pieces, no supports, no mid-print pauses. Magnets (4x 3mm x 2mm neodymium discs) get dropped into the open pockets after the print is done and secured with a drop of CA glue. Just make sure you get the polarity right, stack them all up and mark one end before you start.
I printed mine in PETG on a P1S. 0.20mm layers, 3-4 walls, 15-20% infill. If you're also doing PETG I'd recommend keeping part cooling fan max around 40-45% and aux fan around 20-30% to avoid corner warping. And honestly I don't see any reason why you couldn't print this in PLA - just wanted to use PETG for the durability.
Some additional ways you can probably make this better
- Add felt on the inside so the IEMs are further protected
- Fasten the container to your desk in a convenient place
