Description

This 3D-printable, two-piece hive entrance reducer is designed for beekeepers who prioritize reliability and safety. Unlike standard "loose" plastic slides found in stores, this model features an integrated snap-lock system. This unique mechanical feature ensures the slide stays firmly in place, even during bumpy transport or high winds.

Why is this design better?

  • Integrated Snap-Lock System: A precise "click" locks the slide into the body. No more using duct tape, nails, or wedges to secure your bees!
  • Dual-Function Invertible Slide: One orientation allows full bee traffic. Simply flip it 180° to block the entrance while maintaining maximum ventilation – perfect for moving hives or during chemical treatments.
  • Rodent Protection: The ventilation slots are engineered to be narrow enough to keep mice and other pests out during the winter while ensuring fresh air flow.
  • Robbing Prevention: Easily reduce the entrance size during nectar-poor periods to help your colony defend against wasps and robber bees.

Technical Features:

  • Two-Piece Design: Includes a robust mountable frame (body) and a swappable, reversible slide.
  • PETG Optimized: The geometry of the snaps is specifically designed for the flexibility and UV resistance of PETG filament.

Printing Recommendations:

  • Material: PETG is a must (for UV resistance and snap flexibility). Avoid PLA as it becomes too brittle outdoors.
  • Infill: 15-20% (Gyroid recommended).
  • Walls: 3 perimeters for extra mechanical strength.
  • Supports: Designed to be printed support-free (lay parts flat on the heatbed).
