Jeep Wrangler JL Sunglasses Holder Freedom Mount
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is a purpose-built sunglasses holder designed specifically for the Jeep Wrangler JL. It mounts directly to the front latch hook of the Freedom Top panel above the driver, utilizing existing geometry—no screws, no adhesives, no permanent modifications.
The design focuses on simplicity, rigidity, and one-handed usability while driving.
🔧 Key Features
Direct-fit mounting
Slides onto the factory Freedom Top latch anchor. The geometry is matched to the hook, ensuring a stable and secure fit without wobble.
No tools required
Fully removable and installable in seconds. Ideal if you frequently remove your Freedom panels.
One-handed operation
The angled front support allows you to easily insert or remove sunglasses while seated.
Secure hold
The V-shaped front wedge stabilizes the glasses and prevents them from falling out—even during off-road driving or sudden braking.
Minimal footprint
Compact design that does not interfere with visibility or headroom.
🧠 Design Notes
The holder consists of two functional sections:
- Rear clip channel – interfaces with the Jeep’s latch hook. Designed with tight tolerances for friction fit.
- Front support wedge – stabilizes the frame and distributes load, preventing rotation or slipping.
The angle and spacing were optimized to accommodate typical sunglasses (including larger frames) while keeping them easy to grab.
🧪 Print Recommendations
- Material: PETG recommended (heat resistance for interior use). PLA works, but may deform in hot climates.
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
- Infill: 20–30% (grid/gyroid)
- Walls: 3–4 perimeters for rigidity
- Supports: Not required
- Orientation: Print flat on the base (as shown in STL)
🚗 Compatibility
- ✔ Jeep Wrangler JL (all trims with Freedom Top)
- ✔ Driver-side front latch position
May also fit similar latch geometries, but designed and tested specifically for JL.
⚠️ Notes
- Fit may vary slightly depending on printer calibration—if too tight, a light sanding of the clip area is sufficient.
- Designed for standard sunglasses; extremely thick frames may require scaling.
💡 Why this design?
Most solutions on the market rely on visors, clips, or adhesives. This model leverages an unused structural point in the Jeep interior, resulting in a cleaner, more OEM-like solution that stays exactly where you want it.
