Boost Me (for free)
Give me a boost. This design took many hours of work. Thank you
This is a full-size tricycle designed specifically for toddlers as their first balance trike. Being a push-along version (without pedals), it's ideal for them to develop balance and leg strength before moving on to the pedal version (coming soon).
The design has focused on stability and durability, ensuring that the parts support the child's weight and movement. Material selection has been optimized to balance aesthetics, structural strength, and comfort.
Main Features:
- 100% 3D Printed: No metal screws, bearings, or glue needed.
- No Supports (Zero Supports): Optimized design with self-supporting angles to save material and post-processing time.
- Compatibility: All parts fit perfectly on a 256x256mm print bed (Bambu Lab X1C / P1S / A1).
Material Specifications and Settings
I have configured this profile by dividing the parts according to their mechanical function:
- Body and Structure (PLA):
- Material: PLA (for excellent surface finish and rigidity).
- Infill: 25%.
- High-Load Parts (ABS): PETG should also work well
- Material: ABS (for fork, critical joints, and axle supports).
- Infill: 25-40%.
- Note: It is recommended to use "brim" to prevent warping on these parts.
- Contact and Traction Areas (TPU):
- Material: TPU (Wheels, Seat, and Grips).
- Infill: 15-20% (adjust according to desired hardness for wheel "cushioning").
- Screws and Pins (Printed):
- Infill: 100% (Solid).
- Material: ABS. It is vital that these parts are solid to prevent shear breakage.
Assembly and Safety Instructions
- Screws: Print the screws and pins with 100% infill.
- Finishing: For child safety, sand the joints of the ABS and PLA parts well to remove sharp burrs.
- Usage: Designed for flat surfaces. Ideal for indoors and parks!
- As it is a pure mechanical interlocking design, ensure your printer is well calibrated to respect tolerances.

Critical Assembly Note:
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN SCREWS: Although the screws and pins are designed to be strong and are printed with 100% infill, they are still plastic parts. Excessive torque during assembly can cause stress fractures. Tighten only as much as necessary until the part is firm and without play.
Coming Soon: Pedal Version
This model is the base. I am working on the upgrade kit to convert it into a functional pedal tricycle.
DISCLAIMER / DISCLAIMER
This model is a DIY (do-it-yourself) engineering project. By downloading and printing this design, the user accepts the following conditions:
- Use under supervision: This toy must always be used under direct adult supervision.
- Mechanical integrity: The designer is not responsible for structural failures, part breakages, or accidents resulting from incorrect print settings, inadequate material choice, or improper assembly (such as overtightening screws).
- Maintenance: It is recommended to periodically check the condition of the printed parts and pins to ensure they show no fatigue or cracks before each use.
- Limitation of liability: The author is not responsible for personal injury or material damage resulting from the use of this model. Print and use at your own risk.
ADDED ACCESSORY: This is a link to a bucket seat adapter for my tricycle design: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2664267-asiento-adaptado-para-ninos-menores-de-1-ano#profileId-2947796 . It is designed for small children who can be strapped in to prevent falls and includes a hook for an adult to push.
It is printed in PLA and some parts in ABS that need to be strong. Do not overtighten the screws as they can break.
