🥚 Perfect Eggs – Every Time!

No more guessing how long to boil your eggs! With this practical egg size caliper and cooking time guide, you can quickly measure your egg and instantly get the perfect cooking time – tailored to your preferred yolk consistency.

🔧 How it works

  • Place the egg sideways and measure it at its widest point
  • Once adjusted, you can directly read the cooking time and doneness level

🍳 Yolk doneness levels

The states refer only to the egg yolk and are represented by symbols:

  • ≈ (runny) → Yolk is completely soft and liquid
  • ~ (jammy) → Creamy and slightly thickened
  • – (set) → Fully set but still moist
  • = (dry) → Fully cooked and dry

🎨 Size coding

  • Orange = S (small)
  • Yellow = M (medium)
  • Gray = L (large)

⏱️ Usage & important notes

  • The measurement is based only on the width of the egg
  • The water should gently simmer (not a rolling boil)
  • After cooking, cool the egg in cold water for about 10 seconds to stop the cooking process and ensure accurate results
  • If you only have one AMS, you can simply print the main body of the caliper in gray
  • It is recommended to print the two parts (head and body) separately to reduce waste (less filament purge)
  • After printing, the parts can be easily assembled by sliding them together

🖨️ Print settings

For best results:

  • Enable “Detect Thin Walls”
  • Recommended: 0.2 mm nozzle → best readability of the numbers
  • Possible: 0.4 mm nozzle → works, but numbers are harder to read
