Description
It effectively protects the electrical wiring and access to the bulbs from dust, moisture, and heat in the engine compartment.
This model is a reproduction of the protective cover located behind the headlight for the Renault Clio 1 Phase 1.
Why this material choice? (ASA)
For this technical part, I chose ASA (specifically Bambu Lab's ASA) for several reasons:
- Thermal Resistance: Unlike PLA or PETG, ASA withstands high temperatures under the hood without deforming.
- UV Resistance: ASA does not degrade over time, which is essential for the part's longevity.
- Durability: It is a robust material that offers excellent mechanical strength.
Print Details
The file has been optimized for successful ASA printing.
- Recommended material: Bambu Lab ASA.
- Supports: I configured adapted supports (SlimTree/Tree type) to ensure a clean surface at the fastening clips while remaining easy to remove.
- Specific parameters: An adapted speed to promote layer adhesion and limit printing defects, as well as an enclosed chamber (highly recommended) to ensure smooth printing, without adhesion defects between layers and the bed (Warping).
Installation
The cover clips directly behind the original headlight, replacing the original part. The headlight cables fit perfectly into the dedicated space provided on the cover. This prevents any pinching of the electrical harness and ensures optimal dust sealing.
Verification: Make sure the clips are properly engaged for a firm hold despite engine vibrations.
