đż Hydroponic Tower Slot Cap (Algae Prevention)
If you are using the modular vertical hydroponic tower from Temu or similar platforms, you know that empty slots are a magnet for algae. Any light that enters the tower through an unused net pot hole will quickly turn your nutrient solution green, clogging your pump and stealing nutrients from your plants.
These precision-fit caps allow you to "shut down" unused tiers or specific slots, keeping your water clean and your root zones dark.
đĄ Why you need these:
- Stop Algae Growth: By blocking 100% of light from entering empty ports, you significantly reduce maintenance and water changes.
- Maintain Humidity: Keeps the internal air humid for the surrounding plants' roots by preventing evaporation through open holes.
- Aesthetic Finish: Gives your tower a clean, "finished" look even when you aren't growing at full capacity.
- Perfect Fit: Designed specifically for the standard oval/rectangular ports found on the Temu 15/20/30+ plant modular towers.
đ¨ď¸ Print Settings
Since these will be exposed to high humidity and potentially direct sunlight/grow lights:
- Material: PETG is strongly recommended. It handles the UV light from grow lamps much better than PLA and should not warp when used outdoors. For indoor use PLA should be fine.
- Color: Use an opaque color (Black, Dark Green, or solid Brown as shown in the photos). Light colors or transparent filaments may still let enough "ghost" light through to grow algae.
- Bottom Surface: I recommend printing with a Textured PEI plate to get that premium professional finish on the top of the cap.
đ§ Installation
Simply slide the cap into any unused slot. The friction fit is designed to be snug enough to stay in place against the internal water spray but easy enough to pop out when you're ready to add a new plant.
Note: This fits the standard modular units where the pods stack vertically. If your tower has slightly different dimensions, you can easily scale these in your slicer or using included Fusion files.
