Description
Here you will find my own version of the classic game Battleship
Battleship, also known as Sinking Ships, Fleet Maneuvers, Cruiser War, or Sea Battle, is a game
that is traditionally played with paper and pencil It contains strategic elements, even if the simple
version cannot necessarily be described as strategically relevant
Game Rules
- The ships must not touch each other
- The ships must not be built around corners or have indentations
- The ships may also be placed along the edge
- The ships must not be placed diagonally
Ships
- one battleship (5 squares)
- two cruisers (4 squares each)
- three destroyers (3 squares each)
- four submarines (2 squares each)
Gameplay
It is decided by lot who gets to shoot first The shooter gives a coordinate they are firing at, for example C3
The player being shot at looks at their board and replies with Water, Hit, or Hit, Sunk A ship is considered sunk
when all squares of the ship have been hit The other player notes this on their second, initially empty
10x10 block The player being shot at also marks the hits to see when a ship is sunk
The further course of play follows different rules Either shots are taken alternately, or until water is hit
There are also variants where each player may fire a volley of three shots in succession, or where each remaining ship
may fire one shot per round The player who first sinks all of the opponent's ships is the winner
