Description

I wanted to build a 10" rack and figured I could use my spare Helios4 as the NAS for it. This is my first attempt at a designed 3D print. It's a very snug fit as there are no side ports on the Helios4, only the front ones. The SATA ports are unrestricted, but will probably want to be at the top of your rack or with a 1U gap to allow clearance.

The Helios4 kit comes with 5mm standoffs, which I reused, though the included screws are too short for the 4mm PLA I printed with. There are additional screw holes to fit a 2.5" SSD underneath the Helios4, which I use as a boot drive. There is a cutout for a 1.3" OLED display, which the second batch of Helios4s included and can be added to the first very cheaply - the OLED I bought is an AZDelivery SH1106. You'll want to use some spacers for the OLED screw holes as this is such a tight fit it will crack the glass if tightened too much - I found that out myself! There's a cutout for the power cord directly over the power input.

Finally there's a space for an RPi 4B which I use for Home Assistant. I use it headless with a Power over Ethernet HAT so I didn't leave any space for the Pi's side ports.

I used https://makerworld.com/en/models/2296997-10-inch-rack-1u-blank-plate as the template for the front panel, and did everything else myself in FreeCAD (with thanks to my experienced friend!). FreeCAD file is included.

I printed this in PLA on an Elegoo Neptune 4.
