I present my press for metal inserts with a table clamp up to 38.6mm and an adjustable tool holder clamp in a range of 15-25mm. Its operation is very simple, a lever pushes a slider attached to a tool holder
The tool holder has been deliberately separated from the slider so that it can be replaced by another type of clamp if necessary
A small elastic band can be placed at the back so that the tool does not remain down, although usually you will have to guide the lever upwards after an insert
Plates:
I recommend adding a small drop of lubricating oil in this project, as in all projects where plastic threads are used
Plate 1: The base. Supports must be used as it is hollow to house the table clamps when not in use
Plate 2: The table clamps. They can be stored inside the base using long screws to fix them. These same screws will be used to fix the base to the table
Plate 3: Screws
- 4 screws 27x8mm for attaching the tower to the base, attaching the tool holder to the slider, and attaching the top stop to the tower.
- 2 screws 52x8mm for attaching the table clamp to the base or for attaching the press to the table.
- 1 large-head screw 24x15mm for the lever.
- 1 large-head screw 24x8mm for the lever.
- 1 large-head screw 49x10mm for the tool holder clamp
Plate 4: The tower. The slider moves up and down through it along with the tool holder
Plate 5: Two optional caps if you want to always leave the press fixed to the table and wish to cover the side holes of the base where the screws go
Plate 6: Top stop. It acts as a stop for the slider and at the same time holds the lever
Plate 7: The slider. It slides up and down the tower
Plate 8: The clamp that holds the tools
Plate 9: The lever for making the inserts
Plate 10: The lever handle
