Description
🔩 Metal Stamping Jig for Seed Phrase Backup (4 mm Letter Stamps)
This is a precision-aligned stamping jig designed to securely hold small stainless steel plates and guide metal stamps for consistent, repeatable results. It is optimized for creating durable backups such as crypto seed phrases on metal plates.
⚙️ Compatibility
- Designed for 4 mm letter/number stamps
- Stamp (punch) diameter: 6.5 mm
- Works with thin metal plates (e.g. stainless steel) 50x18x1 mm
🧩 Included Variants
This set includes multiple housing options depending on your use case:
Standard Housing
- Magnet Housing and holder
- Integrated slot for a 10 mm diameter magnet
- Printed magnet counter part holder uses 3M 40mm Round Double sided stickers
- Magnet should be fixed using:
- super glue
hot glue
- Keychain Housing
- Can be attached to a keychain for portability
🔧 Assembly
Depending on how many plates you want to stack or use:
- Use either:
- M3 x 10 mm screws
- M3 x 12 mm screws
- Or what you like in length
- Plus matching M3 nuts
🧠 Plate Layout & Usage Rules
⚠️ Important Limitation
- Each plate supports:
- Maximum 3 seed words
- Maximum 9 characters per word
- Do NOT stamp on both sides of the plate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reason:
- Thin metal (e.g. ~1 mm stainless steel) will deform
- Stamping on the back side causes ghosting
- Characters from the opposite side become visible or distorted
👉 Always use one side only per plate
🧩 Word Structure (per row)
Each row is structured to ensure clarity and correct recovery order:
[Type] [Index] [Word (up to 9 characters)]
Breakdown:
- Type Indicator (1 character)
- Top-left position
- Example:
- L = Ledger wallet
- Can be customized depending on your use case
- Word Index (2 digits)
- Indicates the position in the seed phrase
- Examples:
- 01 = first word
- 02 = second word
- etc.
- Word Field (up to 9 characters)
- Main area for the seed word
- Supports up to 9 letters per word
📐 Orientation Guide (Important)
- The stencil includes a quarter-circle marker
- The correct orientation is with the quarter-circle in the top-left corner
👉 This ensures:
- correct alignment of all characters
- consistent positioning across all plates
- proper readability of the stamped words
Using the wrong orientation may result in misaligned or incorrectly structured seed data.
🔒 Tamper-Evident Security Feature
- The housings (which hold the plates together using screws) are designed to support a security seal band
- You can thread a 19 mm wide security label/seal through the designated area
- The seal can be wrapped completely around the assembled seed phrase block and signed
👉 This allows you to:
- easily detect if the seed phrase stack has been opened
- add an additional layer of physical security
🛠️ Usage Notes
- Always place the jig on a hard surface (steel block recommended)
- Ensure the metal plate is fully seated and does not move
- Use a firm, controlled hammer strike for best results
- Keep the stamp perfectly vertical
- Avoid multiple light hits to prevent double impressions (But it also works, i tried myself but maybe you get shifts)
⚠️ Material Behavior
- Stainless steel (e.g. 304) can deform slightly when stamped (Use the hardest and plain surface you can find)
- Thin plates (~1 mm) are especially sensitive
- Proper support and alignment are critical for clean results
🧠 Design Considerations
- The jig is built to align and center each stamp precisely
- Helps reduce:
- misalignment
- double strikes
- uneven depth
- Designed with practical tolerances for common FDM printers (PLA/PETG)
🖨️ Printing Recommendations
- Material: PLA or PETG
- Use high infill for durability, make it a hunnid :)
