Redstart & Sparrow Birdhouse

Hello everyone, spring is here! It's time to install birdhouses as the birds in your garden will be nesting.

Here is a specific birdhouse for redstarts and sparrows. It respects the recommended dimensions for these birds; far too many birdhouses do not take into account the dimensions, diameters, and opening shapes.

This birdhouse has been completely redesigned compared to the previous one for better ventilation; the grid is placed on the side and is 10mm thick to prevent intruders from passing through by breaking it. The same principle is applied to the entrance hole for better resistance, and small holes are placed around the main hole so that small birds can cling more easily. Inside, you will find a ladder that will facilitate the exit of young birds. 4 holes are placed at the bottom of the nest for water drainage.

I offer various decorations that will match your garden; feel free to play with colors. This birdhouse should preferably be placed between 1.5 and 4 meters high; they should be separated from each other by approximately 70 meters for redstarts (these birds are very territorial); they can be quite close for sparrows. I have not provided a perch as they constitute an entry point for predators, and birds do not need them.

For printing: no support. Color changes are done by height (thus achievable without AMS, with pauses). It is a very simple print, although quite long. All materials work; PLA will tend to deform after a year in the sun (mainly the door), PETG and ASA are more durable.

The birdhouse is fixed with two screws in the bottom of the box; fix it before closing the door. Once in place, the front panel easily clips onto the box (see video).

Cleaning is done once a year at the beginning of winter; remove anything left from previous nests. It is unnecessary to add or leave components for subsequent nests. Do not disturb the nest for the rest of the year.
