Bill of Materials
Description
It looks like a regular mug, but when you try to fill it up… BOOM! All the water goes out, and you have to fill up your drink again! But don't make the rookie mistake of pouring in the drink while it's draining, the drink will still go to waste ;). This cup was engineered to look as regular as possible, but with (a lot) of twists to it. Happy Pranking… or good luck trying to refill the cup!
This model can be printed using a 0.28mm layer height, as there are not many details to it and it remains perfectly functional. I already painted the nessacary supports and did the print profile, so all you have to do is click print and the printer will do the rest of the job for you. If this model gains enough support, I will look into ways to make a (better) pythagorean cup. For now, enjoy (april fools) and go prank everyone!
HISTORY OF THE PYTHAGOREAN CUP(AI GENERATED)
The Pythagorean cup, often called a "greedy cup" or cup of justice, is a clever 6th-century BC Greek drinking vessel attributed to Pythagoras of Samos, designed to teach the virtue of moderation. At first glance, it appears to be a standard ceramic cup with a central column, allowing for normal drinking, but it contains a hidden, inverted U-shaped siphon within that column. When filled with wine or water, the fluid rises equally inside the vessel and the hidden conduit; however, if the liquid exceeds the threshold of the siphon's bend, hydrostatic pressure is triggered, creating a siphon effect that drains the entire cup through a hole in its base. This ancient invention acted as a practical lesson in self-control, humiliating users who were too greedy by leaving them with no drink at all. Today, it remains a popular souvenir in Greece and is used in classrooms to demonstrate basic principles of physics and fluid dynamics.
a classic prank for millenia! everything is made by a human(me) except for the history paragraph.
