Document Tube / Carrier (21/30 cm)

Carrying documents perfectly is complicated, without exposing them to the elements like wind or rain, and storing them without folding or creasing them is even more tedious. For this, I developed this model that will make their transport easier and safer.

Features:

  • Design.- Although simple, the design perfectly fulfills its function of carrying documents safely from the outside by keeping them secure inside. Its design is based on traditional blueprint tubes, although this one is developed for standard A4 documents and smaller sizes.
  • Size.- The model features an internal diameter of 60 mm, which is very important for paper memory, while its height is divided into two versions for greater portability.
  • Document Type It Can Carry.- As mentioned above, this model is designed for A4 documents and smaller. A4 format measures 21cm x 30cm.
  • Portability.- One of the main objectives was its portability. Therefore, two versions were developed:
    • Handheld Version.- It has a height of 21cm, making it perfect for carrying in hand without complication. This version allows rolling along its longer axis without deforming it. Additionally, its short and light form allows it to be carried without problems.
    • Bag/Backpack Version.- Its height is 30cm, its size makes it perfect for easily carrying it inside bags, backpacks, or suitcases. In this case, documents are rolled along their shorter axis.
    • Note: Although the model is divided into two versions, parts can be shared and interchanged, all depending on the user's needs.

  • Capacity.- Its capacity is not infinite; the model was designed to carry fewer than 20 documents. It is advisable not to overload or keep documents for long periods.
  • Paper Memory.- This is one of the main problems with paper, as it tends to adopt a rolled shape. Therefore, the model is designed with a diameter of 60mm, as this diameter is the threshold for paper not to permanently adopt that cylindrical shape. Note: For the document to adopt or lose its cylindrical shape, it is recommended to remove the document and roll it in the opposite direction.
  • Resistance.- Its design and shape provide resistance to impacts and daily use. However, resistance to weather and humidity is provided by the material. It is recommended to use filaments resistant to high temperatures and humidity, as the model is intended for outdoor use.
  • Waterproof / Airtight.- Although the model is designed to be watertight, there are small gaps between certain parts of the body that prevent it from being completely waterproof. It is important to remember that it will prevent documents from getting wet in the rain, but it will not be able to do anything if it is completely submerged in water.
  • Efficient Design.- I had several objectives to achieve with this model because the integrity of others' documents would be at stake. Therefore, I set the goals for it to be portable, resistant, airtight, and above all, secure.

Printing Characteristics:

Recommended Filament: PETG (PLA at your own risk).

Tolerance: 0.2mm

Walls 3, Infill 10%.

Supports: Yes Normal (On the lid).

ASSEMBLY

It is very intuitive; first take the 15cm base container and screw on the secondary container, which varies by version.

Finally, when attaching the handle of the threaded lid, first insert the tab into the hole, then stretch it a bit and insert it into the hole.

Handheld Version

This version of the model consists of 4 parts: the 15cm main container, the 6cm secondary container, and its lid.

Bag/Backpack Version

In this case, this version of the model differs as the 6 cm container becomes 15 cm.
