Here is an improved and significantly more robust replacement for the closure of the SIGG Miracle water bottle. Since standard 3D prints often reach their limits under mechanical stress – and due to the orientation on the print bed – this design has been specially optimized for higher durability.

What has been improved?

  • Reinforced Latching Tabs: The latching tabs are no longer individual but run continuously from one side to the other. This gives the component significantly higher stability.
  • Metal Axle instead of Printed Noses: The side locking tabs are often obstructive during printing and a weak point. They have been replaced by a bore into which a 1.5 mm metal rod is pressed.
    • Tip: You can also recycle the old axle from the original closure system!
    • After pressing, the metal rod must be flattened/filed down to approximately 1 mm residual thickness (see .stp file for details) so that the closing lever finishes flush.

Printing Recommendations

  • Material: PETG is highly recommended (e.g., I used Anthracite). It is more heat-resistant and does not deform immediately if the bottle gets warmer.
