3D-printed clay press mold for latte mugs (Ø ~110 mm)

This 3D-printed outer mold is suitable for quick and even shaping of clay cups. The clay is pressed into the mold and conforms to the inner geometry, allowing for the production of cups with reproducible size and shape.

If desired, a handle can be attached to the cup, turning it into a mug.

Features:

• Suitable for cups with approximately 110 mm diameter and approx. 85 mm height
• slightly conical inner shape
• Slightly rounded transition to the base for a clean inner contour
• Stable and durable – ideal for beginners, home use or practice pieces

Application:

1. Prepare a clay slab of uniform thickness.
2. Press the clay into the mold and distribute it evenly against the inner wall.
3. Shape and smooth the base and wall thickness as desired.
4. Allow the clay to dry slightly until it is stable enough.
5. Carefully remove the cup from the mold.
6. Attach a handle if needed.

Print recommendations:

• Material: PLA, PETG or similar
• Layer height: 0.2 mm
• Infill: 10–20 %
• no supports
• For a particularly smooth surface, the mold can be lightly sanded after printing.

💡 Tip: A thin layer of plastic wrap, nylon pantyhose (tip from my wife 😉), cornstarch, or some water can help to release the clay from the mold more easily later.

The mold is deliberately simple and robust in design, so it can be printed without problems and functions reliably in everyday pottery. Have fun potting! 🏺
