Description
This design is inspired by the retro laptop slim DVD/CD optical drive enclosure that was originally intended for 9.5 mm‑thick laptop optical drives. Many internal CD/DVD drives are actually 12.7 mm thick, so this remix recreates the enclosure with slightly increased internal height while preserving the retro styling of the original model. The printed enclosure lets you repurpose a spare laptop optical drive as an external USB drive or simply protect it when not in a computer. The model consists of several pieces that form a clamshell case with a sliding front panel.
