Description

TPU Pipe Grip Sleeve Insert for Clamp Handle

This model is a flexible TPU sleeve insert designed to wrap around a round metal tube and improve grip inside a 3D printed clamp-style handle.

The part is a partially open cylindrical sleeve, so it can be installed around the pipe without removing the pipe from the assembly. It includes a lower retaining lip and an upper retaining lip to help keep the handle from sliding axially once assembled.

This version was specifically developed to be practical to print in TPU. The upper lip uses a printable angled underside instead of a flat unsupported overhang, which makes it much more reliable on real printers.

Dimensions:

  • Pipe outer diameter: 19 mm
  • Wall thickness: 1 mm
  • Main body height: 18 mm
  • Retaining lip height: 2 mm
  • Retaining lip extra thickness: 3 mm
  • Coverage angle: 330 degrees

Recommended material:

TPU or other flexible filament.

Printing notes:

Print the model upright as designed. This geometry was tested because it prints acceptably in that orientation, including the modified upper lip. TPU settings depend on your machine and filament, so slower speeds and conservative retraction are usually the safer choice.

Use case:

This sleeve is meant to sit between a metal pipe and a 3D printed handle or clamp, adding friction and a slightly compliant contact layer. It can help reduce slipping and improve grip, especially when the handle would otherwise contact bare metal directly. The handle I designed this for is https://makerworld.com/en/models/1182105-clamp-for-bars-or-pipes-clamping-handle#profileId-1192554.
